» How to Role-Play « home

If you have never role-played before, then there is not much you can do on this site. We are going to fix that. Here is a short and very basic list about role-play. If you have questions, just post it in the Council board, or e-mail me at carnerik@hotmail.com

When you role-play, you are acting out a character and telling what that character is doing. On this site, you use message boards to do this (Other sites may have a different way).
  • BE CREATIVE Make things interesting. Have your character do things other then talk; that would not be very realistic. Run around, look at things, go places.

  • WORDS Make use of your vocabulary. Use a variety of words, but make sure you know what they mean (And please, don't swear.) Also, use good punctuation. You look very intelligent if do, and if you don't, well...

  • BE PROMPT It is very impolite if you are interacting with someone and you don't reply for days. If you can not get on very much, warn them.

  • OOC/BIC To be in character means that you are telling about what your character is doing or saying. If you are out of character, then you can say what you personally are thinking. Remember that your character knows everything that you know; they are in an entirely different place, so how could they? OOC: stands for "Out Of Character". If you put this at the beginning of your message, it means that you are talking directly, not your character. If you then want to say what your character is doing, put BIC: which means "Back In Character". This is used anywhere on the web, not just on this site.
Here is an example: OOC: I really like this site. BIC: Crello sat down. Get it?

  • HEY If you're having problems getting people to talk to you, try talking to them. Reply to messages, get to know as many people as you can keep straight! Don't give up; some people can just be slow at replying.
